We are currently recruiting for a newly created postion for a talented and ambitious scientist to work on the Company's automated platform and new drug development programmes. This will be predominantly laboratory-based in the first instance but represents the potential for a future leadership role within the Company, through developing an understanding of the commercial aspects of the Company's business.
A PhD in an appropriate chemical or biochemical subject would be expected, but consideration will be given to applicants who have acquired the necessary experience within industry, particularly within drug discovery.

The position would suit a synthetic chemist with considerable analytical experience or an analytical chemist with a knowledge of synthesis. In this position, your responsibilities will include: the synthesis and purification of libraries of linear and cyclic peptide-based compounds, using both automated peptide synthesisers and manual procedures; cleavage of peptides from resin supports; analysis by HPLC and mass spectrometry; and, modifications of peptides by enzymatic biotransformation. You will be responsible for planning and undertaking analysis, purification, isolation and characterisation of our linear and cyclic compounds, and will need to be able to collaborate effectively with other colleagues as part of a team.
Experience with LC and LC-MS is essential, along with the ability to trouble shoot and perform routine maintenance of HPLC equipment.
