We currently have two vacancies for talented and ambitious people.

Two scientists are sought to work on the company's automated platform and new drug development programmes.  These will be predominantly laboratory-based in the first instance and are initially part-funded by a grant from Innovate UK.  They represent the potential for future leadership roles within the company, through developing an understanding of the commercial aspects of the Company's business.

A PhD in an appropriate chemical or biochemical subject would be expected, but consideration will be given to applicants who have acquired the necessary experience within industry, particularly within drug discovery.

PhD-level Scientist (GD-2020-1, synthesis)

Job Description

In this position, your responsibilities will include: the synthesis and purification of libraries of linear and cyclic peptide-based compounds, using both automated peptide synthesisers and manual procedures; cleavage of peptides from resin supports; analysis by HPLC and mass spectrometry; and, modifications of peptides by enzymatic biotransformation.

A PhD in an appropriate chemical or biochemical subject would be expected, but consideration will be given to applicants who have acquired the necessary experience within industry, particularly within drug discovery.  Knowledge of the synthesis, development, purification and analysis of peptides and macrocycles would be advantageous, but is not essential.  You must be eligible to work in the UK.   Key additional attributes include:

  • leading key projects to a successful conclusion;
  • demonstrating the ability to communicate clearly, with good presentation and report writing skills;
  • a hard working attitude, a balanced and meticulous approach to work and the ability to work well under pressure;
  • to be adaptable and a team player

PhD-level Scientist (GD-2020-2, analysis)

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced scientist to provide specialist analytical and mass spectrometry support.  In this position, you will be responsible for planning and undertaking routine analysis, purification, isolation and characterisation of our linear and cyclic compounds, with LC method development. LC, LC-MS experience essential and MS/MS experience desirable.  The candidate is expected to support chemistry projects, characterizing starting materials, intermediates and active pharmaceutical ingredients and collaborate effectively with other colleagues.

A PhD in an appropriate chemical or biochemical subject would be expected, but consideration will be given to applicants who have acquired the necessary experience within industry, particularly within drug discovery.  Knowledge of the synthesis, development, purification and analysis of peptides and macrocycles would be advantageous, but is not essential.  You must be eligible to work in the UK.   Key additional attributes include:
